SIA Application Help

Before making your SIA application, we strongly recommend you read this page, as it contains some essential information you need whilst applying online. There is also a 'Frequently Asked Questions' (FAQ) section further down.

 

As mentioned on the results page, there may be a short delay whilst the Awarding Body (Highfield) transfers your results to the main Security Industry Authority database. If you apply for your badge immediately after the results are released (below), and you find that your name is not found on the SIA database it is usually because of that. To resolve, simply wait a short while and then try again.

 

 

You should also make sure you create an account asap and to also use the exact same name, spelling, etc as you gave us. They must match up with the SIA system.

FAQs

Question:

Do I have to send my pass certificate off with my application?

Answer:

No, you do not need to send your pass certificate. The SIA will be informed you have passed.

 

Question:

Do I have to take original Proofs of ID i.e. passport or Driving Licence and utility bills etc?

Answer:

Yes, you must take original documents to the Post Office, you will be told during the online process.

 

Question:

Who is my awarding body?

Answer:

Highfield.

 

Question:

What is my Award Date?

Answer:

The Month you finished the course i.e. if your course was September 2017, you must put in 092017.

 

Question:

How much is the three year badge (licence)?

Answer:

£220 or... if you are applying for 2 SIA badges i.e. Door Supervisor/Security and CCTV then both badges are half price.

 

Question:

What licence am I applying for?

Answer:

It is usually the Door Supervisor (covers security work) or CCTV Operator.

 

Question:

The SIA say I am not on their system, or... they have no record of me?

Answer:

Make sure you apply using the exact same name and date of birth as you put on your course documentation, they must match exactly. Also, as previously mentioned, there may be a short delay of a few days between your results coming out and the SIA having your results uploaded onto their system.

 

Question:

If I have a problem how can I contact the SIA? 

Answer:

Through your online SIA account, simply send them a personal message.

The SIA also has a contact number for enquiries (available via their website), but please be aware the SIA will require you to follow ALL of the online 'self-help' instructions before they can deal with telephone enquiries.
